Filobacterium rodentium (CAR bacillus) infection

• Filobacterium rodentium = CAR (cilia-associated respiratory) bacillus
• gram (-), slender

Clinical signs

• mouse : 자연 감염 시 asymptomatic
  • 실험 감염 시 chronic respiratory disease - 기회감염으로 다른 호흡기 질병 악화
• rat : asymptomatic, 때때로 체중 감소, 호흡곤란

Epizootiology

• mouse, rat, rabbit
• 직접 접촉으로 전염
• aerosol 전염 X, 썼던 베딩으로 sentinel mouse에 전파 X

Pathology

• mouse : mild, respiratory Mycoplasmosis와 비슷
  • 림프구와 형질세포가 기관지 주위에 침윤 (유사점)
• rat
  • M. pulmonis와 혼합 감염되어 화농성 기관지폐렴
  • 과형성(hyperplastic) mononuclear cell cuffs - 기관지/세기관지 주위

Diagnosis

• 혈청학적 검사 가능
• Warthin-Starry stain, methenamine silver stain으로 상피세포의 cilia에서 관찰 가능
• mouse는 Mycoplasmosis, rat는 Mycoplasmosis, Corynebacteriosis 등과 감별진단
